Classic Green Bean Casserole

A Holiday Staple That Never Fails

Some recipes just feel like home — warm, familiar, and full of memories. Today I made one of those classics: Green Bean Casserole, the one we all grew up seeing on the holiday table… and the one I just had to recreate in my kitchen.

I found this recipe on AllRecipes.com, and after making it myself (and filming it for TikTok over on @jacciblooms), I’m convinced there’s a reason it has stood the test of time. It’s creamy, cozy, crunchy, and just… nostalgic. The kind of dish your family will look for every Thanksgiving or Christmas.

And honestly? It was so simple to throw together. That’s my favorite kind of recipe — comforting, easy, and perfect for feeding your people well.

🥣 Ingredients

(Original recipe from AllRecipes)

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

  • 1 can (6 oz) French-fried onions

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

🍽️ How to Make It

1️⃣ Mix the Base

In a mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is evenly coated and creamy.

2️⃣ Layer & Top

Pour the mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle a generous layer of French-fried onions on top for that classic crunch.

3️⃣ Bake Until Bubbly

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20–25 minutes, or until the sides are bubbling and the topping is golden and crisp.

4️⃣ Serve Warm

Remove from the oven and let it settle for a couple minutes. Serve warm alongside your favorite holiday dishes.

🌿 Why I Love This Recipe

There’s something beautiful about returning to simple, dependable recipes — the ones that remind us of where we’ve been and who we’ve shared meals with. This dish tastes like family, like tradition, like comfort.

And making it in my kitchen today reminded me how meaningful it is to create a home filled with warmth, good food, and gratitude.
